About The Position

BURNCO is seeking a Quality Control Technician for a full-time, permanent, field-based position at their Krugerville Plant. This role supports ready-mix operations through material testing, mix monitoring, job site inspections, and quality troubleshooting. The technician will ensure ready-mix concrete meets company and industry standards by performing field and laboratory testing, troubleshooting concrete performance issues, and providing technical support to production and operations teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience in ready-mix concrete quality control, construction materials testing, or a related field is preferred
  • ACI or TxDOT certifications are preferred, or willingness to obtain them
  • Strong understanding of concrete properties, mix designs, and testing procedures
  • Ability to interpret technical data, document results, and prepare reports
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety shoes, vests, and glasses, ear plugs, and hard hats, with additional PPE for special jobs as required
  • Must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions and challenging outdoor environments
  • Occasional standing, walking, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and pushing or pulling as needed

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality control tests on ready-mix concrete, including slump, air content, unit weight, and strength testing
  • Conduct quality control tests on aggregates, including sieve analysis, sand equivalent, and materials finer than #200 (decant) testing
  • Sample and test raw materials such as cement, fly ash and admixtures for compliance with specifications
  • Document and analyze test results, identifying and addressing any inconsistencies or deviations
  • Assist in developing and modifying concrete mix designs to meet project specifications
  • Ensure compliance with ASTM, ACI, DOT, and company-specific quality standards
  • Maintain calibration and proper operation of testing equipment
  • Support the implementation of quality control and safety policies and procedures
  • Enter test data into data management system
  • Follow proper company policies, procedures, laws, and regulations including OSHA safety and quality standards
