About The Position

We are Covestro, a company that refines chemical material solutions with game-changing products. The Covestro location in Frankfort, Indiana produces large scale waterborne acrylic emulsions for use in coatings and adhesives. As a QC Lab Intern, you will be responsible for a wide range of lab activities to support day-to-day and ongoing projects. Candidates must be available for a 3-month assignment during the Summer of 2027 (May to August). Related to this position, Covestro offers a global working environment with the opportunity to assist in developing process improvements and creatively solving process-related problems for Covestro's chemical plants in the U.S. There is a focused effort on improving lives through our efforts in assisting in the design of unit operations and working on projects to improve plant reliability, safety, compliance with environmental requirements, and profitability.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program at the time of the internship, which is May 2027 to August 2027
• Focus on one of the following majors: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology
• Completion of Freshman year
• Experience with and knowledge about basic chemistry and safe work habits in a laboratory environment
• Demonstrated PC skills and ability to work within Microsoft Office programs
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

• Overall GPA of 3.0
• Completion of sophomore year preferred
• Chemistry or Biochemistry majors
• Previous lab experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Polymer emulsion QC testing including but not limited to GC, viscometer, pH, solids, and particle size
• Calibration and verification of lab equipment
• Data and record keeping
• Abide by laboratory safety procedures and protocols
