About The Position

We are seeking a skilled QC Inspector with hands-on experience in FARO portable CMM systems (Arm and/or Laser Tracker) to support dimensional inspection activities in a fast-paced sheet metal fabrication environment. This role is responsible for ensuring product conformance through precise measurement, inspection programming, and data-driven analysis. The ideal candidate brings strong GD&T expertise, practical shop-floor experience, and the ability to translate inspection data into actionable quality improvements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1–3 years of hands-on experience operating FARO Arm or Laser Tracker in a manufacturing environment
  • 3–5 years of overall quality inspection experience in fabrication, machining, or similar industries
  • Strong proficiency with FARO hardware and inspection software (PolyWorks, FARO CAM2, Verisurf, or equivalent)
  • Solid understanding of GD&T with ability to build inspection plans from drawings and CAD models
  • Experience with inspection reporting, deviation analysis, and dimensional validation workflows
  • Proficient in conventional inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
  • Familiarity with quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100 preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Problem-solving mindset with ability to support root cause analysis
  • Effective communication across quality, engineering, and production teams
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

  • technical certification in metrology, CMM, or FARO operation preferred
  • Valid and recent certifications are a plus
  • Working knowledge of SPC and data analysis tools is a plus
  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication or welded assemblies
  • Exposure to quality management systems
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) or pilot builds
  • Lean / Six Sigma exposure (preferred but not required)

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-precision dimensional inspections using FARO Arm to validate parts against CAD models and engineering drawings.
  • Develop, execute, and maintain inspection programs for First Article Inspection (FAI), in-process verification, and final inspection.
  • Must be able to create programs for new parts to support NPD activities.
  • Ability to integrate measurements into workflows
  • Generate and analyze inspection outputs including deviation reports, color maps, and point cloud comparisons
  • Interpret GD&T requirements to establish datums, inspection strategies, and acceptance criteria
  • Proficient with precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, profilometers, WFT and DFT gauges
  • Document and report inspection results, including any non-conformities, in accordance with company's IMS (Integrated management system)
  • Identify and document non-conformances; support root cause analysis and corrective actions with engineering and production teams
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and prepare reports (including FAIR/AS9102 when applicable)
  • Ensure FARO equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and compliant with certification requirements
  • Support internal audits, customer audits, and quality system compliance (ISO 9001 / AS9100 as applicable)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying trends in dimensional variation and process capability
