About The Position

The QC Inspector 1 is responsible for interpreting procedures, specifications, and drawings to ensure product meets standards. This role involves using various measurement tools to inspect incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products. The inspector will document inspection results, maintain measurement equipment, and communicate non-conformances to the QC Lead or quality management. This position requires basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
  • Ability to read tape measure accurately.
  • Detail oriented and high organization skills.
  • Ability to utilize and read quality inspection equipment accurately.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets procedures, specifications, and drawings to determine if product meets standards.
  • Uses calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, thickness gauges, surf testers, radius gauges, and height gauges to determine if product meets standards.
  • Inspects and approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Inspects in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, communicating required adjustments to QC Lead or production supervisor.
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work, and confirming re-work.
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and waste, and inputting data into quality database to create required documentation.
  • Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calibration requirements and calling for repairs.
  • Notify QC Lead or quality management of trending nonconformances / rework issues.
  • Provide on the job training to new employees as needed.
  • Follow all safety and health policies and procedures issued by the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.
