About The Position

Under general supervision, oversees the quality control operation during the designated shift, which includes maintaining the overall plant quality system and daily job assignments. Directs Team Leaders and other Team members in the assigned manufacturing area in the execution of the group's responsibilities. Manages the group (manufacturing line, cells, or area) as an operational unit and is responsible for accomplishing company goals and targets in accordance with all company policies, manufacturing standards and methods, and quality standards for safety, product quality, customer satisfaction, accuracy, productivity, cost reduction, housekeeping, efficiency, training, teamwork, and morale.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Associates Degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing process, tooling, quality control methods, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Experience operating, programming, and troubleshooting measurement equipment.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience required.
  • Minimum two years of leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • Working knowledge and experience with TPS and production efficiency (PEFF system preferred).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to successfully complete and use training for forklift, tugger, and truck usage, and pass certification.
  • Willingness to successfully complete and use training for overhead crane operation.
  • Willingness to successfully complete and use cross-training for leading other plant support departments.
  • Willingness to successfully complete and use training for RCRA and DOT hazardous waste requirements, and pass certification.
  • Willingness to successfully complete and use training for computer-based software, applications, and systems (e.g., Oracle, Kronos, Future 3, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience with LK Metrix, Faro, Vectoron, and/or Atos is a plus.
  • Experience working in/overseeing an ISO/IEC certified lab is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain calibration records (manually or by computerized system), identify trends, and recommend actions to change the calibration interval.
  • Manage the calibration control records, including the issuance of upcoming calibration, delinquent, and out-of-tolerance reports.
  • Assure environmental conditions are maintained and recorded.
  • Support any manufacturing or inspection need by providing direct inspection work as part of the production schedule.
  • Perform related Metrology/Calibration activities on various types of measuring and test equipment.
  • Perform calibrations and tests using automated and manually operated equipment.
  • Support CMM Staff with troubleshooting of equipment/measurement setup.
  • Create, manage, and control CMM process/yearly measurement schedule.
  • Create CMM programs (LK, Metrix, Faro, Vectoron, Atos).
  • Report out to management CMM schedule progress.
  • Train CMM TMs on measurement process/Machines (LK, Metrix, Faro, Vectroron, Atos).
  • Function as a first-line supervisor over team leaders and team members.
  • Responsible for leading and maintaining the manufacturing and production system of the assigned area, accomplishing department hoshin goals, and keeping on task with targets and implementation schedule.
  • Utilize knowledge and skills to maintain the highest level of quality and efficiency possible.
  • Lead continuous improvement activity for the assigned area.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Train and coach team members to maintain productivity and quality standards in TS19649, ISO 14001, environmental, safety, quality, job performance, setups, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Collect, record, and analyze information while maintaining documentation regarding the activities in the assigned area as defined by company policy, procedure, or practice.
  • Communicate frequently with internal contacts on various issues.
  • Support the Quality Manager and overall plant quality system.
  • Establish and maintain quality standards that meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Communicate customer or supplier quality issues to manufacturing, production control, and quality control departments.
  • Initiate effective containment and investigation activities to prevent further quality problems/defect outflow in-house and to customers.
  • Effectively communicate with customers and/or suppliers to resolve quality problems.
  • Investigate and countermeasure internal quality defects to improve plant processes.
  • Ensure proper quality processes and procedures are followed and maintained plant-wide.
  • Work with all departments and all levels of management to promote quality.
