About The Position

The QC Evaluator is responsible for performing a comprehensive review and analysis of all assets acquired for distribution across HBO platforms and services. This individual will act as a gatekeeper for quality and compliance, ensuring that only content materials of the highest quality are approved for broadcast and/or distribution. In addition, guaranteeing that all assets adhere to our documented specifications and qualitative standards. They must be able to perform a thorough assessment of all forms of recorded media, including but not limited to visual and audio review of content, review of internal evaluation reports, identification and capture of any/all errors and anomalies, as well as recommending/executing solutions for correction. They must also have a broad range of industry acquired experience and insight in all phases of production, post-production, and broadcast practices, and familiarity with the following specific file formats: MXF, AS-O2, OP1a, ProRes, and IMF.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience working in the television or film industry in a production and/or post-production capacity
  • Expertise in mastering and distribution workflows, techniques, and standards
  • Familiarity with various file formats such as MXF, AS-O2, OP1a, ProRes, IMF, etc.
  • Experience with file playback software.
  • Extensive knowledge of television broadcast and broadband distribution technologies
  • Comfort in Windows and Mac OS environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IRIS QC Pro, Colorfront and Adobe Premiere a plus
  • Familiarity with next generation formats such as UHD, HDR, Dolby Atmos, etc. a plus
  • Linux experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive and conclusive evaluation for all product procured for use on all HBO platforms and services
  • Identify and report any deviations from documented specifications, capture metadata, and prepare clear/concise written observations and evaluations
  • Research internal reports, historical records and other documentation to recommend viable solutions to correct technical anomalies and/or determine next steps
  • Utilize tools and equipment to measure, capture and qualify specific technical requirements during evaluation
  • Verify edits and fixes, revise evaluation reports, and update departmental records and databases
  • Report equipment concerns/failures to appropriate parties including Management and Engineering
