About The Position

As a Quality Control Underwriter you'll be responsible for auditing Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA and Non-Agency loans by reviewing credit, capacity, compliance and collateral characteristics of the loan file to ensure they meets investor quality standards. Review and validate post-closing quality control results reported by third party diligence firms. Participate in the remediation of identified defects with Operations and Correspondent Sellers. Monitor the progress of implementation of action plans based on Quality Control findings and results. Monitor QC project pipelines and analyze reports to ensure deadlines are met. Analyze various reports and data to identify patterns of deficiencies and opportunities for improvement. Act as a resource and subject matter expert for questions regarding underwriting. Review and manage pipelines to ensure timely resolutions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of related experience in Underwriting Review, Mortgage Quality Control or similar field.
  • High school diploma required
  • Intermediate knowledge of residential mortgage industry in Correspondent or Retail Lending, including sales, operations, capital markets and/or other residential mortgage products and services.
  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Intermediate knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA and VA guidelines and Federal regulatory guidelines and procedures.
  • Intermediate TRID knowledge.
  • Basic knowledge of fraud detection.
  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
