About The Position

The QA Technician is responsible for monitoring, coordinating, auditing, and assisting in QA and Sanitation efforts throughout the plant to ensure quality and food safety. This role involves completing laboratory support activities and SPS functions within a team-based structure. Key tasks include analytical, microbiological, and organoleptic testing of ingredients and finished products, environmental testing, process audits, standardizing incoming milk, and overseeing process equipment sanitation (CIP). The QA Technician will work with leaders and fellow partners to ensure Food Safety and Partner Safety, understand and execute standard operating procedures, perform required PCP and CCP checks, and follow reaction plans for deviations. Accurate data recording on quality reports is essential.

Requirements

  • Must have authorization to work in the country where the role is based.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, including speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Ability to read and follow written Standard Operating Procedures and work schedules.
  • Ability to work with chemicals.
  • Ability to manually apply pressure of 80 to 100 foot-pounds using upper body strength and bending and twisting wrist while using pipe wrench.
  • Ability to manually tighten clamps on line connections bending and twisting hand and wrist.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds floor level.
  • Ability to work in temperatures up to 105 degrees F and below 40 degrees F.
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds shoulder level.
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders.
  • Ability to determine color change during testing.
  • Ability to use hand to squeeze product into pans for analysis.
  • Ability to bend, crouch.
  • Ability to aseptically sample barrels of finished product requiring technician to manually push and twist sample plug from barrel of product.
  • Ability to enter data into Oracle, RMCS, Excel, and EQMS programs using PC and keyboard.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with standardization equipment and IR analyzer.
  • Experience with Oracle, Excel, EQMS, or other SFI specific programs.
  • Experience with aseptic sampling/testing.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, coordinate, audit, and assist in QA and Sanitation efforts.
  • Complete laboratory support activities and SPS functions.
  • Perform analytical, microbiological, and organoleptic testing of ingredients and finished products.
  • Verify compliance with customer, regulatory, and SFI specifications and guidelines.
  • Conduct environmental testing of process equipment and plant areas.
  • Perform process audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and SFI requirements.
  • Standardize incoming milk to ensure final product analytical criteria are met.
  • Oversee process equipment sanitation/CIP.
  • Work with Leaders and fellow partners to ensure Food Safety and Partner Safety.
  • Understand and execute standard operating procedures relative to the position.
  • Perform all PCP and CCP checks required for the position.
  • Follow reaction plan for Food Safety, Food Quality, and customer requirement deviations.
  • Identify and understand customer requirements and assist in assuring proper operation and product.
  • Record accurate data on quality reports.
  • Complete assigned cleaning tasks, set up equipment for and complete CIP, and perform pre-operation inspections per SFI, regulatory, and sanitation guidelines.
  • Monitor CIP temperatures, flows, and chemical strengths and sign off on completed CIPs.
  • Follow SFI standards regarding the 7-step cleaning program.
  • Operate standardization equipment and IR analyzer.
  • Coordinate standardization schedule with UDA and RGB Partners.
  • Electronically receive and record ingredients including milk and cream from suppliers into Oracle and verify accuracy.
  • Analyze standardized milk to ensure SFI product formula guidelines and finished product analyticals meet criteria.
  • Test incoming milk and cream to ensure compliance with SFI ingredient specification requirements.
  • Perform analytical and organoleptic testing of product to ensure compliance with SFI and regulatory guidelines.
  • Work with Leadership in notification and disposition of product that falls outside SFI specification guidelines.
  • Maintain and calibrate lab testing equipment.
  • Perform pre-op swabs and inspections, special cause cleanup, and air quality checks in packaging rooms and surrounding areas.
  • Enter data for raw ingredient, work in progress items, and finished product analysis into Oracle, Excel, EQMS, or other SFI specific programs.
  • Validate that data has been accurately recorded.
  • Utilize Process Excellence tools to improve plant performance and complete specific projects.
  • Continuously work to improve productivity, reduce raw material waste, and increase product quality.
  • Work to improve unsafe and unsanitary conditions throughout the plant.
