About The Position

TreeHouse Foods is a leading manufacturer of private label packaged foods and beverages. This role is responsible for ensuring and maintaining a high level of sanitation, food safety, and a safe working environment. The QA Technician will perform various chemical, physical, and sensory tests on raw and finished products to generate accurate data. This includes testing for acid, salt, brix, pH, color, counts, fill weights, and more. The role also involves monitoring pasteurization, verifying equipment functionality (UPC scanner, X-ray test wands), inspecting for jar breaks, titrating the PAA system, and monitoring the fermentation process. Accurate record-keeping and reporting of deviations are crucial. During downtime, the technician may assist with rework, general labor, or cleaning. This is a permanent, full-time position on the 2nd shift.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in the food industry preferred
  • Previous Quality Assurance experience a plus
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform chemical, physical and sensory tests on all raw and finished products using approved methods to generate accurate data.
  • Testing to include but not limited to the following: acid, salt, brix, pH, color, counts, fill weights, desalt tank analysis, customer samples, daily cuttings including flavor, texture and appearance of products.
  • Monitor pasteurization including cooling temperatures & data trace tests.
  • Verify that the UPC scanner is functioning once an hour.
  • Run X-ray test wands through to verify the x-ray is functioning properly.
  • Monitor X-ray kick outs as they occur.
  • Verify correct label and stencil in use at start up and changeover.
  • Inspect jar breaks as they occur on the line.
  • Monitor and titrate the PAA system once every 2 hours or as needed.
  • Monitor fermentation process including: lactic acids, reducing sugars, enzyme testing, Calcium Chloride, pH, flow meters, purge units, and salometer testing.
  • Record all information in an orderly fashion and report all deviations from standard to the Quality Assurance Supervisor and/or Quality Assurance Manager.
  • During down times, assist with rework, performing general labor work, or cleaning floors in the production area.
