About The Position

Tests and conducts routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished product, using a variety of testing devices and procedures to maintain product quality. This role involves testing and inspecting products at various stages of the production process, compiling and evaluating statistical data to ensure product quality and reliability. The position also requires performing analytical tests, collecting and recording results, and assisting in the implementation of total quality management programs. Teamwork and adherence to Simmons Operating Systems principles are essential.

Requirements

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Must be able to pass a company-issued Quality Assurance test.
Standing on feet for entire shift.
Bending at waist.
Uses both hands.
Walking.
Lift up to 55 lbs.
Must be able to tolerate temperatures above 100°F or below 32°F at any given time.
Must be able to work in a wet, cold environment where walking surfaces may be slippery.
Must prioritize personal safety.

Responsibilities

Tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process.
Compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
Performs analytical tests on samples using instrumentation and equipment.
Performs calculations to measure factors and tests product to verify factors.
Collects and records results of sampling and testing to maintain a record of product quality.
Collects, measures, and weighs samples of materials.
Assists in implementing a total quality management program and/or trains others on total quality management.
Participates as a member of the Team, fostering cohesiveness and coordinating work to ensure best practices.
Attends appropriate team meetings.
Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team to resolve issues.
Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and the position's role in supporting these systems.
Communicates concerns and improvement ideas regarding operating systems.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
