About The Position

Seeking a versatile quality technician to join our 2nd shift. A successful candidate will need to be able to excel in both the quality assurance and quality control aspects of the position. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Quality Assurance and Quality Control, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment. The candidate will be expected to hit the ground running and be a self-starter. They will have great flexibility in achieving their goals the way they best see fit and will be expected to work and succeed with little direct supervision.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years’ hands-on or direct experience with quality assurance including using inspection tools and software, quality documentation, problem-solving.
  • Basic Data Entry in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, and Outlook and ability to learn new software tools.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP or MRP. Global Shop Solutions is preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with coworkers.
  • Build rapport and develop alliances; adjusts communication style to meet the needs at various levels within organization.
  • Basic mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to detect basic steel defects, use inspection tools and document measurement activities.
  • Reliable and diligent with the ability to work efficiently while maintaining high standards in quality.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license (insurable with good driving record).
  • Ability to work standard base hours with occasional overtime availability as assigned.
  • Must be a US Person as defined by ITAR/EAR ( U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident or any individual who is granted status as a “protected person”.

Nice To Haves

  • Solid background in Quality Assurance and Quality Control, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with auditing.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Experience in ISO, IATF or similar quality management systems in a manufacturing environment inspecting metal formed parts and components.
  • At least 1 year’s hands-on or direct experience with quality assurance including using inspection tools and software, quality documentation, problem-solving.
  • Global Shop Solutions is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect materials, incoming components, finished products, and in‑process work to verify compliance with customer requirements, internal quality standards, and applicable government regulations.
  • Adhere to procedures outlined in RFCs Quality Management System.
  • Recognize potential Quality defects, create Quality Alerts to spread awareness.
  • Support operations on containment, placing inventory on hold inside of ERP system and disposition per MRB.
  • Know basic metallurgical principles regarding material certifications and perform incoming inspection.
  • Support process capability studies, FAI’s and related measurement activities such as Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility studies.
  • Operate Statistical Process Control (SPC) software and equipment with proficiency.
  • Contribute to cross‑functional problem‑solving teams for internal or external quality issues.
  • Maintain a working understanding of quality record‑keeping systems, such as material certifications, calibration, and quality portals.
  • Use electronic displacement‑sensing measurement tools, including Wizard, slide, digital calipers, digital micrometers, and ACQ slide, while applying proper measurement principles.
  • Read and interpret basic RFC documentation and customer engineering drawings.
  • Interpret and perform destructive weld testing (Roll Lines).
  • Perform calibration audits.
  • Participate actively in Continuous Improvement (CI) team initiatives.
  • Demonstrate fundamental computer skills and general technical literacy.
  • Perform process audits, dock audits and layered process audits.
  • Increased knowledge of GD&T- profile, perpendicularity, parallelism etc.
  • Create and update Gage Work Instructions.
  • Transfer Job Books- Red to Black under direction of Quality Specialist or Supervisor.
  • Enter new measurement devices into calibration system.
  • Generate PO’s and ship samples for outside laboratory testing.
  • Create and update master MIP sheets under direction of Quality Specialist or Supervisor.
  • Create Job Books, including Master Prints.
  • Generate PO’s and ship devices for outside service calibration.
