About The Position

This position conducts assurance control testing on products and raw materials on the plant floor. It involves utilizing and/or adapting inspection equipment, investigating faulty work, ensuring correct dates on product runs, analyzing circumstances to determine action, and directing workers engaged in measuring and testing product. The role also directs and supervises employees involved in inspection and quality assurance procedures for purchased material, in-process material, and finished products. Responsibilities include planning and assigning work, scheduling QA technicians, managing Kronos in the QA Department, maintaining discipline, morale, and harmonious relations, and investigating/adjusting personnel problems. The position also maintains time and production records, compiles inspection records and quality control reports, initiates plans to motivate workers, and interfaces with other departments to develop and implement training programs. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing (food preferred)
  • Minimum of five years of experience in quality control in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good math skills
  • Must be well-organized with good attention to detail
  • Display strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Adaptable and dependable with ability to follow direction and work cooperation with others
  • Must maintain a helpful and professional attitude and appearance
  • Ability to apply logic and understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, instructions and to deal with problems involving a few different variables.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts assurance control testing on products and raw materials on the plant floor.
  • Utilizes and/or adapts inspection equipment to meet quality control standards, make suggestions about procedures, standards and equipment to facilitate work and maintain product quality.
  • Investigates and determines the cause of faulty work and consults and advises production supervisors as to corrective measures.
  • Ensures that sell-by and production dates are correct on product runs.
  • Analyzes facts or circumstances surrounding individual problems to determine what action should be taken within the limits of standard practices.
  • Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Directs and supervises a group of employees involved in inspection and quality assurance procedures about purchased material, in-process material and finished products to assure that quality assurance standards are achieved.
  • Plans and assigns work of team.
  • Responsible for scheduling QA technicians to assure proper coverage.
  • Responsible for Kronos in the QA Department.
  • Maintains discipline, morale, and harmonious relations among team members.
  • Investigates and adjusts personnel problems within area of responsibility. Effectively recommends as to hiring, promotions, wage adjustments, and terminations.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Compiles and maintains inspection records and quality control reports.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Interfaces with other departments to develop and implement training programs as required.
  • May assume other duties as assigned.
