About The Position

The QA Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the factory's Food Safety Plan (HACCP) and all company policies and procedures related to Food Safety and Quality. This role involves partnering with shift supervisors and plant management to foster a strong Food Safety and Quality Culture, enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs). The specialist will conduct necessary food safety and quality testing, investigate non-compliances and consumer complaints, manage QA records, and perform internal factory inspections and audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree, or equivalent work experience - 2 years minimum in a production environment
  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment - 1 year minimum
  • Knowledge of HACCP required
  • Demonstrates sound technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Proven, reliable self-starter, able to work effectively with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to successfully partner with team members and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite-Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills

Nice To Haves

  • Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certification and SQF Practitioner preferred
  • Basic statistical skills preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review and ensure compliance to the factory Food Safety Plan (HACCP)
  • Partner with shift supervisors and plant management to promote Food Safety/Quality Culture and enhance Food Safety awareness through daily coaching and scheduled training
  • Ensure compliance to all company policies & procedures pertaining to Food Safety and Quality including but not limited to: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Sanitation & Housekeeping, Equipment & Facility Maintenance, etc.
  • Enforce GMP compliance through coaching and other appropriate means for: Production supervisors, factory employees, contractors and visitors
  • Ensure compliance to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI) including proper documentation (completion, control, and retention)
  • Conduct Food Safety and Quality testing as necessary- for example, but not limited to, swabbing, metal detector challenges
  • Initiate, investigate, communicate, and follow-through on corrective actions for non-compliances. Maintain a corrective action tracking system to ensure non-compliances are resolved in a timely manner
  • Investigate consumer complaints
  • Conduct internal factory inspections-such as GMP, Food Safety, and Quality system audits
  • Manage QA records including but not limited to environmental sampling program, pest control program for the factory
  • Other responsibilities as needed
