About The Position

Nest Veterinary is experiencing rapid growth and is seeking its first dedicated Quality hire to define and build the company's quality standards. This role will involve creating test infrastructure, implementing AI-assisted workflows, and establishing reliability standards to support fast and confident scaling. The ideal candidate will have a passion for automation-first testing, AI-assisted workflows, and end-to-end quality ownership across a full stack. Nest Veterinary aims to make pet care accessible through tech-enabled care plan solutions for veterinary practices, focusing on design-forward products and thoughtful technology.

Requirements

3+ years in a QA, SDET, or test automation role with an automation-first approach.
Active, demonstrated use of AI/LLM tools in testing and reliability workflows (e.g., Claude, Copilot, Codex).
Strong proficiency in Dart and Flutter testing (unit, widget, golden, and integration tests).
Comfort writing Python tests for FastAPI and gRPC services (pytest experience is a plus).
Experience building CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, CircleCI).
Comfort working across the stack: Flutter frontends, Python/gRPC backends, and third-party integrations.
Experience with contract testing or API testing frameworks.
Familiarity with production observability tools (e.g., Sentry, Datadog) and reliability concepts like SLOs and error budgets.
Strong product intuition to identify high-risk areas.
Self-directed and comfortable building a function from scratch.

Nice To Haves

Experience testing Flutter Web (Playwright or similar) and/or Flutter Desktop applications.

Responsibilities

Architect and build a robust test suite from the ground up for Flutter applications (web + desktop) and FastAPI/gRPC backend services.
Build contract and integration tests for critical APIs, including payment processing, PIMS integrations, and internal services.
Utilize LLMs to generate test cases from PRs, specs, and code diffs, and curate/maintain the output.
Employ AI for exploratory testing by feeding app state, API responses, and UI structures into models to identify edge cases and inconsistencies.
Build and maintain prompt libraries and workflows for repeatable AI-assisted QA tasks.
Own observability from a quality and reliability lens, including error budgets, alerting thresholds, anomaly detection, and resilience testing.
Instrument visual regression testing for admin and hospital-facing UIs.
Develop and maintain test data management strategies and reusable test utilities.
Establish defect reporting and triage workflows, and quality metrics/reporting.
Collaborate with developers, product, and customer support to identify quality risks early.
Work with developers to improve test patterns across the codebase, favoring generated-and-reviewed over hand-written tests.
Continuously evaluate new AI testing tools and integrate them where they provide leverage.
