About The Position

The QA/QC Inspector (Plumbing) is responsible for conducting field inspections of plumbing systems on industrial, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, pharmaceutical, mission-critical, data centers, and other complex construction projects. The position is responsible for supporting code compliance, quality assurance and quality control, testing verification, commissioning, startup, and turnover activities. This role involves inspecting installed work, reviewing construction documents, plans, specifications, and shop drawings, identifying and documenting non-compliance and quality issues, verifying corrective actions, and coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, City/AHJ inspectors, project stakeholders, and other responsible parties to support compliance with approved design documents, applicable codes, specifications, and project quality requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of experience in industrial/commercial plumbing required.
• Experience with plumbing systems including DW, PCW, ICW, RCW, SD, FD, CD, AAS Drain, EES Drain, and similar systems applicable to industrial or advanced manufacturing construction.
• Experience inspecting PVC/UPVC and metallic piping systems.
• Extensive knowledge of plumbing systems, local building codes, applicable International Codes, and current construction procedures and technology.
• Strong knowledge of applicable IPC, IBC, IFC, NFPA, related codes, local amendments, regulations, and project requirements.
• Knowledge of NFPA 13, 14, 20, and 22 as applicable to assigned work.
• Experience interpreting applicable codes in the field and assisting with the development of code-compliant solutions.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, and other technical documents.
• Ability to identify and clearly document deficiencies, non-conforming work, and corrective actions.
• Understanding QA/QC processes including inspections, testing verification, NCR management, corrective-action verification, field audits, quality documentation, commissioning support, and turnover.
• Ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment.
• Strong time-management, organizational, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and assignments in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Ability to interact professionally and effectively with staff members, contractors, subcontractors, City inspectors, AHJs, engineers, clients, and other governmental or project entities.
• Ability to represent the company in a professional manner.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
• Candidates must remain familiar and current with applicable editions of the International Codes and other codes and standards relevant to their assigned scope.
• Ability to work in a construction site and trailer-office environment.
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills required.
• Ability to effectively present technical information and respond to questions from managers, customers, contractors, employees, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, technical requirements, and other project documentation.
• Ability to prepare routine inspection reports, quality documentation, correspondence, and other written records.
• Employees must be willing and able to work weekends, holidays, overtime, alternate shifts, and extended schedules as required to support project needs, inspections, testing, commissioning, startup, turnover, and client requirements.
• Employees must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license.
• Employees may be required to travel to other project sites within Arizona to perform assigned work functions.
• Frequently stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift heavier items with assistance or mechanical equipment.

• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and high-visibility vests.
• Interaction with powered industrial equipment, tools, and vehicles.

• Experience with fire sprinkler and fire suppression systems is highly desirable.
• Experience supporting testing, commissioning, startup, closeout, or turnover activities is preferred.
• Experience on large-scale industrial or technically complex construction projects is preferred.
• Knowledge or experience with BIM360, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Procore, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, or similar construction and quality-management platforms is preferred.
• Ability to use engineering or project software such as AutoCAD, Primavera, or similar applications is preferred.
• Ability to communicate in Mandarin/Taiwanese is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections of plumbing systems and associated installations.
• Inspect domestic water, sanitary waste, vent, storm drainage, and other assigned plumbing and process-related systems, including PVC/UPVC and metallic piping systems, as applicable to the project.
• Perform and/or support underground, rough-in, above-ceiling, in-wall, testing, final, and turnover inspections as applicable to the assigned scope.
• Inspect applicable systems including DW, PCW, ICW, RCW, SD, FD, CD, AAS Drain, EES Drain, and other plumbing or process-related systems assigned to the project.
• Review construction drawings, approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, manufacturer requirements, and other applicable project documents to verify compliance with project and code requirements.
• Review plans and building components to verify compliance with applicable plumbing, building, fire, and related codes.
• Identify non-compliance, deficiencies, incomplete work, and deviations from approved design documents, specifications, codes, and project quality requirements.
• Notify responsible contractors or subcontractors of identified deficiencies and maintain appropriate inspection and quality records.
• Issue, document, and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and other quality observations when required or authorized by project procedures and verify corrective actions and closure.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, deficiencies, corrective actions, test results, NCRs, and other information related to assigned inspection activities.
• Maintain electronic inspection logs and enter inspection results into applicable permitting, quality management, document-control, or project-management systems.
• Witness, monitor, or verify plumbing system testing as required by approved inspection and test plans, project specifications, applicable codes, and approved procedures.
• Verify that required testing documentation and inspection records are complete and properly maintained.
• Support testing, commissioning, startup, system acceptance, punch-list, closeout, and turnover activities as assigned.
• Participate in field audits and quality surveillance activities to verify compliance with approved project requirements and established quality procedures.
• Provide technical input and recommendations regarding interpretation of City, State, Federal, construction, plumbing, and related standards and local ordinances within the inspector’s assigned responsibilities and authority.
• Interpret applicable plumbing codes and project requirements in the field and assist project teams in identifying code-compliant solutions.
• Coordinate professionally with contractors, subcontractors, City/AHJ inspectors, engineers, project management, construction personnel, commissioning teams, clients, and other project stakeholders.
• Support coordination and resolution of inspection issues with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), Engineer of Record (EOR), and other responsible parties when assigned.
• Assist and mentor less-experienced inspectors when assigned.
• Provide technical support for complex inspections and code-compliance matters within the inspector’s qualifications and assigned authority.
• May serve as Lead Inspector or provide inspection coordination or supervisory support when assigned.
• Perform other Mechanical inspections and quality-related duties as required and within assigned responsibilities.
• Support the overall QA/QC program and, when directed by the QA/QC Manager or company leadership, assist with inspections, documentation reviews, testing oversight, turnover activities, commissioning support, field audits, quality reporting, and other quality-related duties necessary to support project objectives and business operations.
• Adhere to and implement applicable site safety procedures.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
