About The Position

Mechanical Solutions, Inc. (MSI) is seeking a QA/QC Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of the Quality Control program. This role involves managing and coordinating documentation from testing and inspection personnel, directly reviewing documentation and physical inspection phases, and collaborating with internal teams (Project Managers, Superintendents) and external personnel to ensure a quality product. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, or related degree, or relevant work experience considered in lieu of education
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in construction, demonstrating increasing responsibility and expertise over time
  • Proficient in the use of software including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to walk a job site and climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Ability to lift 50lbs

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, document, and track preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections
  • Lead, plan, and schedule weekly QC meetings with the superintendent and provide written reports
  • Provide daily QC reports that reinforce activities being constructed in conformance with project standards
  • Provide ongoing status updates to executive management with recommendations for dealing with substandard performance and overall progress on quality goals
  • Manage and support all quality teams on-site
  • Identify the appropriate standards and procedures for specific tasks
  • Communicate best practices, lessons learned, recent events, and training opportunities to the Enterprise
  • Manage Quality Programs on projects, focusing on core programs including Site Specific Quality Plans, policies, and procedures through proactive planning, training, support, and sharing lessons learned
  • Ensure all materials received for the project conform with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately, and are acceptable for use
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings with new and existing subcontractors and the superintendent prior to the start of each new phase of work to discuss quality-affecting issues
  • Track construction deficiencies and ensure timely implementation and verification of all approved corrective actions
  • Coordinate and document the testing and commissioning of building systems, review results, and submit
  • Assist the project team in ensuring subcontractor compliance with the project site-specific safety plan and perform safety inspections and audits as required by company practices
  • Maintain and document conformance to the developed quality plan
  • Monitor/manage deficiencies to the quality plan and work towards completion
  • Understand and monitor the testing and inspection process, and maintain a positive relationship with relevant agencies
  • Identify the accuracy of subcontractor work
  • Understand inspection requirements by city, county, and state to receive TCO & CO
