About The Position

Mural Group is partnering with a Great Lakes marine company and active shipyard in Cleveland, Ohio, to hire two QA/QC Inspectors. This is a field-based quality role embedded in a working shipyard environment, supporting new vessel construction and repair projects. The position is intended for a hands-on inspector with multi-trade coverage rather than someone focused on desk-based paperwork. CWI certification is preferred and may place compensation toward the top of the salary range. The role is direct hire from day one and is based at a single Cleveland location.

Requirements

Hands-on field inspection experience in a shipyard, heavy fabrication, or industrial construction environment.
Willingness and ability to cover multiple trades and support various NDT methods.
Familiarity with USCG regulations and ABS classification rules, or demonstrated ability to gain that knowledge quickly.
Strong documentation discipline and attention to detail.
Ability to uphold quality standards under production pressure.

Nice To Haves

CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification; the posting states that it is preferred and compensated accordingly toward the top of the range.
Bilingual Spanish, described as a meaningful advantage given the shipyard workforce composition.

Responsibilities

Review work packages before work begins for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with contract specifications and regulatory requirements.
Perform in-process work surveillance and monitor workmanship standards across multiple trades throughout the shipyard.
Conduct inspections according to the QA/QC plan and documented inspection procedures, and accurately record findings.
Coordinate with USCG inspectors and ABS surveyors to ensure vessels meet contract and classification standards during construction and repair.
Support non-destructive testing activities across multiple NDT methods as needed.
Maintain calibration and certification records for test equipment, welder qualification certificates, and the quality reference library.
Track key quality metrics, control systems, and records for testing and inspection activity.
