About The Position

NorthStar Energy Services is seeking a QA/QC Engineer / Project Coordinator to join our collaborative multidisciplinary team. This dual-role position combines rigorous quality oversight with hands-on project coordination, helping ensure vendor-fabricated equipment, documentation, and engineering deliverables meet project requirements while supporting the communication and organization that keep projects progressing effectively.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of QA/QC, vendor inspection, or fabrication quality experience in the midstream energy, oil and gas, or petrochemical sector
  • Experience reviewing vendor documentation and multidisciplinary engineering drawings, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Manage vendor quality from purchase order through final documentation, including vendor drawing and data review, shop surveillance, source inspections, and resolution of nonconformances.
  • Perform independent QA/QC reviews of multidisciplinary engineering drawings to identify errors and interface gaps before fabrication or field execution.
  • Support project managers and lead engineers by tracking deliverables, schedules, and action items; managing document flow; and helping keep vendors, disciplines, and clients aligned.
  • Review vendor drawings, data sheets, calculations, weld maps, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) to verify compliance with project specifications, purchase orders, and applicable codes.
  • Establish appropriate hold, witness, and review points within vendor ITPs and lead pre-inspection meetings with fabricators and suppliers.
  • Conduct fabrication shop surveillance and source inspections, coordinating third-party inspection agencies when required.
  • Review welding documentation, including WPS/PQR qualifications, welder certifications, and NDE requirements and results.
  • Witness and document shop testing activities, including hydrostatic testing, coating inspection, and dimensional verification.
  • Review vendor final documentation and Manufacturing Record Books, including MTRs, weld maps, and inspection and test records, for acceptance prior to shipment and turnover.
  • Support vendor qualification activities, audits, and maintenance of the approved vendor list.
  • Perform independent QA/QC reviews of drawings across all disciplines, including mechanical, piping, civil/structural, electrical, and instrumentation & controls.
  • Verify consistency across related deliverables, including P&IDs, plot plans, piping layouts and isometrics, one-line diagrams, and instrument indexes, with attention to tags, line numbers, and discipline interfaces.
  • Review drawings against design basis documents, company and client standards, and applicable codes prior to issue.
  • Coordinate squad checks and track review comments through resolution and final back-check.
  • Develop and maintain drawing-check procedures and discipline checklists that promote consistent, repeatable quality across projects.
  • Apply and interpret applicable codes and standards, including ASME B31.3/B31.4/B31.8, ASME BPVC Sections V, VIII, and IX, API 1104, API 650/653, AWS D1.1, Title 49 CFR Parts 190-199, and SSPC/AMPP coating standards.
  • Support project managers and lead engineers by tracking deliverable status, schedules, budget items, and action items across engineering disciplines.
  • Coordinate deliverables, transmittals, and document control among internal disciplines, vendors, and the client, with proactive follow-up to keep reviews and approvals on schedule.
  • Maintain accurate project quality documentation, including quality plans, deliverable lists, comment logs, and progress reports.
  • Serve as the primary quality and coordination interface with vendors from purchase order award through delivery, supporting RFQs and technical bid evaluations as needed.
  • Coordinate project meetings, document minutes and action items, and follow through to timely closure.
  • Route, track, and support resolution of RFIs, technical queries, and design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct field assessments and walkdowns to verify installed quality and help resolve vendor or construction issues.
  • Support construction, commissioning, and startup activities, including receiving inspections, punch list resolution, and as-built documentation.
