About The Position

Performs a variety of chemical, biological, and physical tests required for research, development or quality control. Responsible for performing routine tasks and analyses on samples in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. May perform specialized analysis under the direction of the Plant Manager, Laboratory Manager or Laboratory Supervisor to support applied quality assurance and control procedures. Maintains the laboratory as directed for compliance with company hygiene plans. Assists in special studies in the laboratory and possibly in the field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Chemistry or Biology, and 2 years of experience in a related occupation.
  • 1 year experience to operate and trouble shoot and repair the instruments including Ion Chromatography, TOC Analyzer, 6400 Calorimeter, ICP (Agilent), Gas Chromatography.
  • 1 year experience communicating technical information to operations.
  • 1 year experience with environmentally regulated constituents related to the stack emissions.
  • 1 year experience in the hazardous waste industry.
  • 1 year experience working with analytical instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and reporting out Quality Assurance (QA) / Quality Control (QC) data.
  • Improve existing testing procedures with the goal of improving testing efficiency, accuracy, precision, and repeatability.
  • Resolve quality issues including instrument reliability, maintenance, accuracy, precision, turnaround time, capability, and value.
  • Participate in analyzation, segregation, and treatment of waste in the incineration plant, physical treatment plant, stabilization plant, and inventory management systems.
  • Conduct sample collection, characterization, and analysis of waste.
  • Actively work to dispose of outstanding long-term inventories on plant site.
  • Support internal/external audits and ensure all processes meet industry compliance standards by monitoring day to day operations as directed by corporate Senior Technical Director.
  • Train other chemists and technicians on hazard communication, proper PPE usage, emergency procedures, and safe analytical techniques.
