About The Position

Hiive is redefining how private companies and their shareholders access liquidity. Through its institutional-grade platform, Hiive brings together buyers, sellers, and issuers to facilitate secondary transactions in venture-backed, pre-IPO companies, introducing efficiency, transparency, and standardization to an otherwise opaque asset class. Recognized as one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies and backed by leading U.S. investors, Hiive is profitable, well-capitalized, and building a high-performance team to meet growing demand and pursue new market opportunities. Interested in learning more about life at Hiive? Check out our careers page to see how you can grow with us! As a QA Manager at Hiive, you will lead a team of 3 QA engineers and own quality across our platform. You will define the QA strategy, own the test infrastructure and processes that allow Hiive to ship with confidence, and evolve how the team operates as AI-assisted engineering reshapes the way our product is built. This is a leadership role where you'll shape both the people and the practice of quality at Hiive.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software QA experience, with at least 2 years managing QA engineers.
  • Demonstrated experience defining and driving QA strategy.
  • Experience evolving QA practices for AI-assisted engineering workflows.
  • Strong hands-on experience with test automation frameworks — Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or equivalent.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar).
  • Solid understanding of testing methodologies: functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end.
  • Ability to write clear test plans, test cases, and quality reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment where you define the process, not just follow it.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience evolving QA practices in environments where engineers use AI coding assistants (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar) in their daily work.
  • Experience in fintech, marketplace platforms, or other regulated software environments.
  • Familiarity with performance testing or security testing practices.
  • Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or REST-Assured.
  • Background working on small engineering teams where QA and engineering collaborate closely.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3 QA engineers, setting clear ownership areas, performance expectations, and career growth paths.
  • Define and own the QA strategy end-to-end — from test planning and case design through to reporting and continuous improvement — and adapt it continuously to the changing needs of AI-enabled product engineering.
  • Design and maintain an automated test framework covering Hiive's core transaction, onboarding, and platform workflows.
  • Integrate QA into CI/CD pipelines so that quality gates are automated and regression coverage runs on every build.
  • Partner closely with product and engineering to review requirements, identify testability issues early, and advocate for quality throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Track and report on defect trends, test coverage metrics, team performance, and release readiness to engineering leadership.
  • Triage and investigate production issues, coordinating root cause analysis and ensuring fixes are covered by regression tests.
  • Evaluate and introduce new tooling, AI-assisted testing approaches, or processes as Hiive's platform and team scale.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive salary commensurate with experience and contribution.
  • Opportunity to participate in ownership of a rapidly growing company through our employee stock option plan.

  • Dedicated desk in our Vancouver, BC HQ, with a fridge stocked with healthy snacks and drinks, an onsite gym, and a gorgeous rooftop amenity.
  • $20-per-day commuter benefit for every day you work in our Vancouver HQ.
  • An engaging social calendar, including bi-weekly catered lunches, bi-weekly “Friday bar,” team workouts, annual summer party, and holiday party, two “onsite” all-team retreats each year, semi-annual team-building events, and Hiive Women’s Network events.
  • Significant opportunities for growth into team leadership and management roles.
  • Entrepreneurial culture and a small and dynamic team.
