About The Position

The QA Manager is responsible for owning, driving, and executing the company’s quality assurance strategy with a strong emphasis on test automation. This role is both strategic and hands-on: the QA Manager serves as the primary face of automation within the organization, setting the vision and standards for automated quality practices while personally designing, implementing, and maintaining automation frameworks and tests. This role will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders to ensure that high-quality, secure, and reliable software is delivered consistently and efficiently.

Requirements

  • QA leadership, team management, and mentoring in a software development environment with the technical credibility to back it up.
  • Hands-on working knowledge of modern application environments, including Java based systems, GraphQL, front-end applications, and cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Test automation strategy and SDET-level quality practices. You should be able to design, build, and review automation frameworks yourself, not just oversee others who do.
  • Manual-to-automation transformation initiatives and regression testing improvement.
  • Quality metrics, bug tracking, and root cause analysis with the ability to build meaningful dashboards and present findings to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment about when to escalate, when to dig in, and how to balance technical depth with the demands of people leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary champion and visible leader for QA automation across the organization.
  • Define the automation roadmap, strategy, and success metrics aligned with business and product goals.
  • Establish, document, and continuously refine automation standards, best practices, and coding guidelines for the QA team and any contributing engineers.
  • Advocate for automation within cross-functional teams, influencing design, development, and release practices to enable testability and quality by design.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to QA engineers and other team members on automation tools, frameworks, and techniques.
  • Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks (e.g., UI, API, integration, performance) using agreed-upon tools and technologies.
  • Write, review, and maintain automated test scripts for new and existing features, ensuring tests are reliable, maintainable, and appropriately scoped.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with DevOps/Engineering to ensure rapid, reliable feedback on builds and releases.
  • Analyze test results, identify root causes of failures, and partner with development teams to resolve defects.
  • Perform manual testing where necessary (e.g., exploratory testing, edge cases, or areas not yet automated), using these insights to inform future automation priorities.
  • Lead and manage the QA team, including performance management, coaching, and professional development with a focus on automation skills.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management to understand requirements, acceptance criteria, and risk areas, and to determine what and how to automate.
  • Work with Engineering to ensure features are designed for testability and that automation is integrated early in the development lifecycle.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with stakeholders about test strategy, automation coverage, risks, and quality status for each release.
  • Own and continuously improve QA processes, with special focus on increasing automation coverage and effectiveness over time.
  • Define and track metrics related to automation and overall quality.
  • Evaluate, select, and introduce new tools or frameworks that enhance automation, performance testing, and quality metrics.
  • Ensure QA and automation practices align with applicable regulatory, security, and privacy requirements relevant to the company’s products and services (e.g., data protection, industry-specific regulatory standards).

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits plan including medical, dental and vision
  • Generous flexible time off policy
  • Discretionary retirement match
  • Opportunities for growth and development
