About The Position

Ergon Refining in Vicksburg currently has an opening for a QA Lab Technician Trainee. This is an entry level shift position in the ERI Laboratory that serves all the analytical aspects of the refinery and terminal operations, including process, products, and wastewater. The Quality Laboratory Technician I (QLT-I) tests samples, evaluates data for accuracy, and reports results. The QLT-I will focus on becoming proficient in petroleum testing requirements and will be assigned to a primary area of the laboratory. We are a great company with great pay and great benefits. Requirements

  • Two (2) year Associates degree or work experience assessed as equivalent by the Laboratory Manager
  • Successful completion of training requirements as outlined by the laboratory management
  • Knowledge of the petroleum products, the petroleum industry, statistics and computer skills are helpful
  • Good communication skills with managers and employees required
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • A clean MVR is required
  • Must have successfully completed and passed a Functional Job Capacity Evaluation (FCE), ACT Workkeys CLICK HERE for testing locations

Responsibilities

  • Practice good laboratory safety habits and participate in all safety training as required
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment at all times
  • Maintain and follow ISO 17025, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 related standard practices and procedures
  • Identify and report deviations from the laboratory's quality management system, SQC program, or from procedures for performing lab activities
  • Report to laboratory management on the performance of the laboratory's quality management system and any need for improvement
  • Ensure the effectiveness of laboratory activities
  • Provide analytical support for the refinery and terminal operations through requested sample analysis and evaluation
  • Provide certification support for all product lines
  • Monitor all lube oil products and certifications statistically for variation
  • Maintain required inventory levels of all supplies for continuous laboratory operation
  • Maintenance and disposal of retained samples
  • Proper handling and cleanliness of all equipment
  • Perform equipment verifications as dictated by procedures or standard lab practice
  • Available for call out when scheduled
