About The Position

The QA Inspector is responsible for ensuring product quality through various inspection processes on the production floor and in the final audit stages. This role involves performing first piece approvals, in-process inspections, sample retention, and final audits according to established Quality Management System (QMS) procedures. The inspector will also manage documentation, handle non-conforming products, and support the production team with quality-related questions. A strong understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly injection molding, and proficiency with measuring instruments and engineering drawings are essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a Quality Assurance or inspection role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and completing all required duties consistently.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experienced in good manufacturing practices and quality initiatives and programs.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a team-oriented work environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of injection molding processes.
  • Physically capable of frequently lifting boxes up to 30 lbs.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent pace in a fast-moving production environment.
  • Experience with computers and computer software such as Microsoft Office or inspection related software.
  • Experience with engineering part drawings related to part geometry, dimensions & tolerances, drawing views, and interpretation of requirements.
  • Proficient use of hand-held measuring instruments.
  • Experience with micrometers, height gauges, calipers, indicators, and optical comparator.
  • Knowledge and interpretation skills regarding the principles of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance.
  • Working knowledge of inspecting techniques and testing procedures.

  • Provide support for customer specified SPC as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform first piece approval in a timely manner.
  • Conduct in-process sample inspections per inspection plans and record results.
  • Manage all part samples related to jobs running on the production floor.
  • Document non-conforming products by opening NCRs per QMS procedures.
  • Provide quality support to production machine operators and team members.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of all QA floor documentation.
  • Perform AQL sample final inspections per inspection plan and QMS procedure.
  • Perform AQL sample receiving inspections for all incoming items.
  • Ensure all incoming items have necessary certifications and are properly scanned.
  • Create and supply certification of compliance documents as per customer requirements.
  • Ensure final and receiving inspection records are complete and accurate.
  • Backup and assist with floor inspections and secondary final inspections when workload permits or team members are absent.
