About The Position

The QA Inspector will perform all quality audits and tests, maintain appropriate records in accordance with current Quality Standards and Procedures, including incoming material audits, nonconforming material, shipping audits, first piece inspection, and in-process audits. This role also involves regular calibration of measurement and test equipment, assisting operators with quality expectations, determining final product conformance, inspecting customer returned material, and supporting plant ISO 9001:2015 activities. The inspector will prepare rejection notices, verify defects on returned material, and immediately notify supervisors of any changes required to meet specifications. This position is responsible for providing error-free work to all internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or GED, required.
  • Experience performing dimensional inspection of products using basic measuring equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing process and equipment.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Understanding of ISO 9001:2015.
  • Conversational English, required.
  • Sitting, crouching, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, and the handling of 50lbs or less.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic critical thinking skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and cranes. Must maintain certifications for required equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools (hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, drill, grinder, bander).
  • Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, box calipers, slide dial calipers, and micrometers.
  • Ability to convert fractions to decimals and metric to English measurements.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work.
  • Capable of setting up and operating one or more processing machines.
  • Ability to speak, write, and comprehend conversational English.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, including walking 2-5 miles per shift.
  • Ability to bend, sit, stand, twist, and stoop repeatedly for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 25lbs – 50lbs from floor to waist and front carry up to 25lbs – 50lbs, repeatedly per shift.
  • Ability to reach overhead, squat, kneel, and climb short ladders or steps.
  • Ability to maintain coordination of hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects with precision.
  • Ability to read labels, follow safety and standard operating procedures, and communicate effectively in an industrial environment.
  • 20/30 vision with the use of corrective lenses.
  • Subject to environmental conditions that occur indoors and outdoors which include, but are not limited to: Exposure to changing temperatures, loud noises, and vibration from use of equipment.
  • Hazards: proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to high heat, and exposure to chemicals.
  • Atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, mist, gas, or poor ventilation that may affect the respiratory system or skin.
  • Oils: air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in a quality control or assurance role, preferred.
  • Relevant experience, apprenticeship, or vocational training preferred.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain MIG Welder certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all quality audits and tests and maintain appropriate records in accordance to current Quality Standards and Procedures, including incoming material audits, nonconforming material, shipping audits, first piece inspection, and in-process audits.
  • Perform regular calibration on measurement and tests equipment, as required, maintaining the appropriate records and documentation.
  • Assist operators in understanding charting techniques and quality expectations, as needed.
  • Use applicable documentation to determine final product conformance with applicable requirements.
  • Inspect customer returned material to verify/confirm product non-conformance.
  • Support plant ISO 9001:2015 activities.
  • Prepares rejection notices and verifies defects on return material.
  • Notify operator and/or supervisor immediately if changes are required to meet specifications.
  • Responsible for providing error-free work to all internal and external customers.
