About The Position

The QA Inspection Technician - Supplier Quality role at Pantex is responsible for visually inspecting procured items for Suspect/Counterfeit Items and performing records and data review of support documents to verify compliance with written procedures. This position obtains related documentation for preparation of witnessing or performing inspections as assigned, and reviews quality related records for accuracy and completeness. The technician is responsible for the visual inspection of items to identify compliance with design agency specifications, performing assignments with a high degree of quality and efficiency while exercising prescribed safety and security measures. They will work effectively with managers, co-workers, representatives of other Departments/Divisions, and outside agencies, and follow prescribed standards of housekeeping and cleanliness of the work area to ensure safety and efficient operations. Key responsibilities include detecting defects in material and workmanship, and the care and protection of assigned materials and/or equipment. The role requires performing functions with a high degree of accuracy in all phases of duties under general supervision, and maintaining knowledge of applicable Federal, State, Department of Energy (DOE), Corporate and Plant rules, regulations, Labor Agreements and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures. The position also involves attending and/or successfully completing indoctrination, training classes, and qualification requirements, participating in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls, understanding the worker’s right to stop work when safety is jeopardized, attending all required safety meetings and training, and offering suggestions on improvements to the work environment. This role is essential for safeguarding national security through work performed at Pantex.

Requirements

  • Must be physically fit to perform the above job functions as determined by Medical Evaluation.
  • Must be able to complete all training necessary to be qualified to witness and perform quality control inspections and tests.
  • Minimum of four years current gainful experience in quality control/quality assurance work that involved the performance/verification of inspections or tests typically acquired through previous experience as a Production Technician experienced in the assembly and disassembly and inspection of War Reserve (WR), Joint Test Assembly (JTA) or Testbed activities.
  • Ability to maintain neat, accurate, concise and complete records and files.
  • All qualifications, work history, training, and education are to be verified by direct contact with former employers and/or documented proof.
  • Ability to perform the functions and responsibilities involved will be determined by a comprehensive interview and background evaluation.
  • Must have at least 3 hours official training on Integrated Production Planning and Execution System (IPRO) and IPRO related functions.
  • Recent work experience as determined by the hiring manager, within the last three years, to include assembly and disassembly of nuclear weapons and/or JTA’s.
  • High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent.
  • Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
  • Requires Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification. If the successful candidate is not currently certified in the HRP, the certification process will be initiated upon assumption of the position.
  • If the successful candidate is currently certified in the HRP, a review for HRP certification in the appropriate category will be performed by the hiring manager and the HRP Management Official, and the certification process in the appropriate category will be initiated upon assumption of the position.
  • U.S. citizenship is a requirement for security clearance applicants.
  • All employees are subject to random selection for drug testing without advance notification.

  • Attends all required safety meetings and training.
  • Offers suggestions on improvements to the work environment.
  • Visually inspects presented items to verify compliance and conformance to requirements with a high degree of accuracy and completeness.
  • Obtains related documentation in preparation of executing hold point inspections, and observations as assigned.
