The Quality Engineering team at The New York Times is hiring a QA Engineer. You will work with software engineers, DevOps, product managers, and designers to support quality across our web, mobile, and API platforms. As an embedded Quality Partner, you will collaborate directly with Product Engineering to guide our weekly release schedule without sacrificing excellence. You will influence quality—providing proactive feedback during feature kickoffs, aligning with our offshore QA team to maximize test coverage, and creating test cases and automation scripts to eliminate blind spots. This role is hybrid and based in New York City, with an expectation of two days per week in the office. You will report to the Senior QA Manager. We are looking for a QA Engineer—a creative builder who can bridge the gap between QA, DevOps, and engineering excellence. This role is ideal for a mid-level engineer who excels at solving hard problems. The engineer should also automate everything and use modern AI-assisted development tools, such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and Claude. These tools accelerate testing and deployment workflows. At The New York Times Company, building an experienced and diverse workforce is an important part of our mission. We are committed to a hiring process that is inclusive, fair and transparent, and one that puts emphasis on our commitment to career development.
