About The Position

This position ensures that the laboratory maintains inspection readiness at all times. It involves demonstrating leadership through accountability and collaboration, exhibiting a high level of initiative and problem-solving ability, and coordinating efforts effectively with others to promote teamwork and change. The role requires active participation in the Quality Improvement Team and collaboration with management to implement standardization and process improvement, ensuring continuous quality improvement. The QA Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable related activities, facilitating internal and external audits, and coordinating the updating of departmental standard operating procedures and databases. Additionally, this role coordinates internal and external proficiency testing activities and oversees department training and competency programs, potentially performing job responsibilities equivalent to a Licensed Scientist as needed. Compliance with all health and safety policies, procedures, and practices, including the use of personal protective equipment, is mandatory. This position supports, implements, and ensures compliance of all department and company Quality Assurance / Quality Control related policies and performs department Quality Control.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4-5 year’s progressive experience as a scientist/medical technologist in a clinical laboratory which includes at least 2-4 years of high complexity testing and associated methodologies for the applicable position being applied for as a California State Licensed or Limited License Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
  • Lifting and carrying objects in the weight range of 1 to 10 pounds frequently; 11 to 25 pounds occasionally; 26 to 50 pounds seldom. Objects exceeding 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
  • Frequent simple grasping, reaching and fine manipulation.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods.
  • Good eye and hand coordination.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with supervisors, co-workers and clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Bachelor’s Degree Medical technology or other life or physical sciences from an accredited college or university (Required)
  • A current California State Limited License to perform laboratory testing in the applicable specialty (Required)
  • Current State Clinical Laboratory Scientist license if necessary (e.g. California) (Required)
