About The Position

This position will lead overall day-to-day quality systems practices and programs as well as the quality assurance process for products made by third parties. This includes leading the implementation and ongoing program management of corporate Quality Assurance policies for ingredients, packaging materials, finished products, and other related initiatives.

Requirements

  • College degree in Food Science Food, Chemistry, Biology, Nutrition, or Food manufacturing-related field.
  • 5+ years in the food manufacturing industry especially in the QA and Food safety department.
  • At least 2 years of QA management experience including overseeing QA laboratory.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the areas of food safety, plant regulation and quality assurance.
  • At least 3 years facilitating food safety/quality-related training events.
  • HACCP Certification from a nationally or internationally recognized and accredited HACCP training firm
  • Thorough understanding of FDA and/or USDA-inspected manufacturing facilities including experience with FDA and/or USDA rules and regulations
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Able to foster solid relationships and build trust and credibility quickly at all levels within the organization while achieving key operating objectives.
  • Ability to analyze processes for biological, chemical, and physical hazards with a thorough understanding of the science and support behind each type of hazard and each step within a production process
  • Able to work with cross-functional departments within the organization
  • Good problem-solving and corrective action/resolution skills
  • Strong computer skills with experience using Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
  • A passionate, high-energy leader who can motivate the team and influence others to achieve results.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree desirable.
  • Previous experience with Safe Quality Foods or SQF Expert Practitioner is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Hosting auditors and inspectors
  • Verifying proper analytical results for each recipe
  • Performing Sensory Evaluation and shredding tests
  • Managing Microbiological Testing
  • Reviewing Microbiological results (APC, Coliform, E. coli, Y/M)
  • Reviewing Microbiological results (Additional specific testing per customer request)
  • Reviewing Microbiological results (pathogen testing)
  • Reviewing sampling and testing procedures
  • Quality Hold Management
  • Coordinating Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) Initiatives
  • Tracking, Identification of issues, retraining, and determining the final disposition of the product
  • Verifying Results & releases for outbound shipments
  • Serving as a backup to the QA Techs in their absence (Micro sampling etc.)
  • Preparing for and Collaborating with Inspections
  • Assisting, Coordinating and/or Conducting Training for GMP, HACCP, and SQF items
  • Assisting in research and Preparation of 3rd party non-conformity reports
  • Assisting in maintaining and managing all training manuals and certifications for the staff
  • Assisting in updating policies and documentation
  • Employee Training
  • Serving as a backup to the Sanitation Manager for performing environmental testing and chemical titrations
  • Assisting in managing Customer Complaint Program
  • Consumer complaint investigation and resolution
