About The Position

The QA Automation Engineer will design and deliver scalable, high-quality test solutions. In this role, you will bridge the gap between business objectives and technical execution by analyzing user requirements, identifying system bottlenecks, and performing cost-benefit analyses for technical improvements. Requirements

  • 8 years of experience designing automated tests by creating scripts that run database testing functions automatically.
  • 8 years of experience prioritizing test scenarios and creating execution plans to implement these scenarios.
  • 8 years of experience creating test plans, test cases, and preparing/maintaining test environments.
  • 8 years of experience performing moderately complex functional, application, and regression testing.
  • 8 years of experience and knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Iterative).
  • 8 years of experience interpreting requirement documents and updating test documents accordingly (test plans, test cases, traceability).
  • 8 years of strong familiarity with analysis, planning, and management reporting functions as they relate to testing and quality assurance.
  • 8 years of demonstrated ability to acquire knowledge of the Customer’s business processes in the assigned area and apply that knowledge to testing.
  • 8 years of demonstrated strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including working effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • 8 years of experience working directly with Customer stakeholders as needed throughout the test cycle (e.g., clarifications, defect triage, UAT support).
  • 8 years of excellent analytical, problem-solving, team collaboration, and oral and written communication skills.
  • 8 years of proven ability to work successfully with both technical and non-technical groups and to manage multiple responsibilities, priorities, and deadlines concurrently.
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

  • 2 years of experience with the Texas DIR Project Delivery Framework and associated document templates.
  • 2 years of familiarity with the organization’s information architecture and information management methodologies.
  • 2 years of familiarity with the existing and planned software technology stack and the global, regional, and local software architecture and infrastructure components as they relate to testing and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for database applications, including back-end data validation and integration points.
  • Perform functional, performance, and regression testing on various databases and database-driven applications.
  • Identify, analyze, document, and report defects and issues found during manual and automated testing, ensuring clear reproduction steps and impact assessment.
  • Work closely with application development teams and database administration teams to triage, troubleshoot, and resolve defects and performance issues.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize automated scripts for database testing, including data setup, verification, and regression automation suites.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across multiple database systems and environments by validating data transformations, migrations, and integrations.
  • Monitor database performance during testing activities and provide recommendations for tuning and optimization based on test results.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, project managers, and product owners to gather and clarify testing requirements, objectives, and acceptance criteria.
  • Participate in requirement and design reviews to identify testability gaps and define testing strategies early in the lifecycle.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update test documentation, including test plans, test cases, test scripts, test data, and test execution logs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, standards, and best practices, particularly in the area of test automation and database testing.
  • Support test environment setup, configuration, and validation to ensure readiness for test execution.
  • Provide status updates, test metrics, and risk assessments to project leadership and stakeholders throughout the test cycle.
  • Assist in knowledge transfer, mentoring, and guidance to other QA team members as required.
