About The Position

The MBTA is seeking a QA Analyst to conduct Quality Assurance and Testing for a document compliance solution. This solution will enable controlled distribution of documents and rule books to field employees via iPad tablets, with future support for Android and Windows devices. The QA Test Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the application meets business and compliance requirements in both online and offline scenarios, and will support future integrations with corporate systems such as learning management systems, document management platforms, and HR Systems. This role involves testing mobile applications and web interfaces across various platforms, including validation of role-based security, support for pilot/UAT phases, and data/integration testing.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in computers, communications, or related field.
  • 5+ years in software QA with strong mobile/iPadOS testing experience.
  • 5+ years with QA tools, methodologies, and strong understanding of effective software testing models.
  • Experience authoring test plans/cases and managing regression suites.
  • Hands-on experience with offline-first testing and sync workflows.
  • Familiarity with SSO and role-based access testing.
  • Proficiency with test/defect management tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot across application, device, network, and integration layers.
  • Experience supporting pilots/UAT and collaborating with non-technical field users.
  • Experience working with Business Analysts and participating in requirements traceability and UAT.
  • Ability to effectively read, comprehend, communicate, and respond to instructions, orders, signs, notices, inquiries, etc. in English.
  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Ability to commute to assigned work locations in the Boston, MA metro area, as required by the role.
  • Ability to provide internal and external customers with courteous and professional experiences.
  • Ability to work effectively, independently, and as part of a diverse workforce team.

  • Exposure to Compliance Software, LMS integration or certification tracking solutions is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Validate document access, search, annotations, content pack downloads, sync behavior, caching, performance, and error handling under variable connectivity for mobile and functional testing on iPad/iOS.
  • Test authentication/SSO, role-based visibility, creator/publisher/consumer permissions, and acknowledgement workflows for role-based access and security.
  • Verify document creation, approval, publication, distribution workflows, track versions, confirm acknowledgements, and ensure auditability and compliance metrics for document lifecycle and compliance.
  • Author test plans, test cases, test data, and regression suites. Execute smoke, regression, exploratory, and end-to-end tests; document results and defects.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings, defect triage, lessons learned, and project and test planning.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to plan pilots, prepare test scripts for field users, triage issues, verify fixes, and provide rollout-readiness reports for pilot and UAT support.
  • Work with IT/MDM teams (e.g., Intune) on app deployment, updates, device compliance, certificates, VPN, and proxy behaviors; reproduce issues.
  • Test integrations with enterprise systems, including LMS linkages, SharePoint/DocuNet publishing workflows, version mapping, and HR System feeds.
  • Maintain requirements traceability through tests and outcomes; contribute to test reports, release notes, go/no-go decisions; monitor key QA metrics (defect, test coverage).
  • Under the guidance of the QA Lead and collaboration with the Project Lead, design and implement test system configurations in Comply365 (DocuNet, PureIntel, ProAuthor, SafetyNet).
  • Partner with IT for SSO integration, interface support, and data model alignment.
  • Leverage PureIntel to design dashboards for tracking document access, compliance, and usage trends.
  • Assist in defining testing scenarios, conducting testing, and validating business requirements.
  • Act as an ambassador for both the product and the end users, supporting tech adoption, surfacing practical insights, and leading with empathy on reported issues.
  • Coordinate with other project team members including contractors, outreach staff, and MBTA stakeholders.
