Requirements

  • 5+ years of medical transcription, medical language editing, or diagnostic reporting QA experience
  • 3+ years of direct Radiology transcription/report-editing experience strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting radiologists across multiple diagnostic modalities
  • Experience reviewing speech-recognition-generated medical documentation
  • Advanced knowledge of radiology and medical terminology
  • Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology
  • Exceptional listening, proofreading, grammar, and medical-language skills
  • Ability to identify subtle discrepancies and inconsistencies within diagnostic reports
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities within defined turnaround times
  • Strong computer and word-processing skills
  • Ability to learn new radiology reporting systems and workflows quickly
  • Professional communication skills when interacting with radiologists and operational stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with PowerScribe 360 strongly preferred
  • Experience with comparable platforms such as MModal or other diagnostic speech-recognition/reporting systems may be considered
  • Experience with eRAD RIS, RamSoft, or similar radiology information systems preferred
  • Radiology coding knowledge is beneficial but not required
  • Post-secondary education or formal training in Medical Transcription, Medical Language, Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related discipline preferred
  • Formal coursework in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review and edit diagnostic reports generated through speech-recognition software
  • Listen to radiologist dictations and validate speech-recognized drafts for accuracy and completeness
  • Identify and correct medical terminology, grammar, formatting, and transcription errors
  • Identify missing information, inconsistencies, discrepancies, and potential inaccuracies within diagnostic reports
  • Escalate clinical or documentation discrepancies requiring radiologist review rather than independently altering clinical interpretation
  • Perform quality audits of diagnostic reports and document findings in accordance with established standards
  • Meet defined accuracy, quality, productivity, and turnaround-time requirements.
  • Create, edit, maintain, and QA diagnostic reporting templates within speech-recognition/reporting systems
  • Validate templates for consistency, usability, and applicable documentation requirements
  • Support standardization and continuous improvement of radiology reporting templates
  • Identify recurring speech-recognition or template issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Support diagnostic reporting across MRI, CT, PET, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, X-Ray, and other radiology modalities
  • Respond to priority reporting and template requests within established turnaround times
  • Work effectively with radiologists, operations teams, and system administrators to resolve reporting issues
  • Adapt to new reporting platforms, workflows, templates, and technology as required
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, privacy, security, and organizational requirements
  • Follow established documentation and quality-control procedures
  • Maintain appropriate audit trails and documentation of quality findings and corrective actions
