About The Position

Trident Consulting is seeking a Python Test Automation Engineer for a client in Auburn Hills, Michigan. This is an onsite, one-year W2 contract assignment with the possibility of extension. The role focuses on developing and maintaining automated test solutions for automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs), vehicle systems, and connected automotive platforms. The engineer will collaborate with validation engineers, embedded software developers, systems engineers, and integration teams to improve test coverage, accelerate regression execution, and ensure software quality across vehicle programs.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of Python automation experience.
• At least 3 years of automotive validation experience.
• Experience with Pytest and Robot Framework.
• CAN bus knowledge and experience with CAN tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Python automation frameworks for ECU and vehicle-level testing.
• Develop automated test scripts for functional validation, regression testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing.
• Create reusable Python libraries, utilities, and automation components.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
• Generate automated test reports and dashboards.
• Perform root-cause analysis of failed tests and software defects.
• Support issue tracking using Jira and ALM tools.
