About The Position

SciTec, a subsidiary of Firefly Aerospace, is a defense contractor specializing in advanced technologies for U.S. National Security. For over 45 years, SciTec has supported Department of Defense customers by developing innovative remote sensing algorithms, tools, and techniques for data exploitation in areas such as missile defense, intelligence, surveillance, & reconnaissance, space domain awareness, and aircraft survivability. SciTec exclusively works on U.S. government contracts requiring U.S. citizenship and cannot sponsor work visas. This role is for a talented Python Software Developer in Boulder, CO, to support programs focused on missile warning and missile tracking. The ideal candidate will have extensive Python experience, thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative small-team environment with Scientists, Engineers, and Developers, and be capable of prototyping, developing, integrating, and testing advanced software solutions.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science.
  • 2+ years professional software engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with microservice architectures.
  • Strong proficiency in Python.
  • Demonstrable understanding of principles related to software engineering.
  • Commitment to quality in code and software engineering practices.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science.
  • Experience or background with remotely sensed data or aerospace engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with messaging technologies such as protobuf, ZMQ, Kafka, gRPC, REST APIs.
  • Background in statistics.
  • Professional experience with DevOps processes and tools such as Docker, Jenkins, Gitlab-CI/CD.
  • Experience with SQL, PostGIS, Redis.
  • Existing DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently and with the team to develop high-quality software features aligned to project objectives.
  • Assist in containerization, testing, and deployment of software for delivery to customers.
  • Provide guidance and support for other technical performers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
