About The Position

Columbus School for Girls (CSG) is seeking a temporary, full-time long term substitute teacher for music in the Program for Young Children (PYC) and Lower School (Forms I-III) for the period of August through November 2026. CSG is an independent day school founded in 1898, serving diverse students in grades pre-k through 12. It empowers girls to discover their distinct potential as learners and leaders within a vibrant community. The school offers an exceptional, student-centered academic experience with strong offerings in the arts, athletics, and a unique health and wellness curriculum.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher with an education certification or licensure.
  • Exceptionally strong candidates will possess a music education degree.
  • Familiarity with and/or willingness to learn Kodály philosophy.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Proficiency with classroom technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction.
  • Collaborative and a good communicator.
  • Values working outside of the classroom with elementary students.
  • Understanding of the value of an all-girls education.
  • Eagerness to learn about the best ways to help young women of promise to reach their full potential as learners and leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Teach three sections of general music to the 3/4 year old, 4/5 year old, and 5/6 year old classes of the PYC.
  • Teach three sections of Lower School General Music to 1st -3rd grade students.
  • Prepare students for school program performances
  • Assist with school duties as needed (ex: lunch duty, carline, recess, etc.)
