About The Position

Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Management (PWM) Division focuses on the ultra-high net worth (UHNW) client segment. For over 40 years, PWM has served the needs of affluent individuals, families and their foundations. By providing advice founded on a culture of excellence and driven by global insight, PWM is devoted to helping clients preserve and grow their financial, generational and social capital. As such, UHNW clients need Private Wealth Advisors (PWAs) with deep training and knowledge. Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Management Team Associate Program is an apprenticeship-style program designed to identify and prepare qualified candidates for participation in our three-year Private Wealth Advisor Associate (PWAA) program. Throughout two, one-year rotations on Private Wealth teams, Team Associates will have the opportunity to shadow their senior Advisor(s), engaging in client-facing meetings, calls, projects and analyses to learn about the advisory role and responsibilities first-hand. Team Associates will begin to adopt a proprietary mindset and leverage their prior experience in delivering value for both the team and clients, with the goal being selection by a team for sponsorship in the PWAA program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two-years of prior relevant experience
  • SIE, Series 7, Series 66 (or 63 and 65), or successful completion of Series 7 and Series 66 exams
  • Strong familiarity with financial services / wealth management industry
  • Excellent listening, communication (both verbal and written), analytical and problem-solving skills – Individual will have extensive interaction with clients and Advisors
  • Integrity – Dedication to doing the right thing and putting the client’s needs first
  • Collaboration and leadership skills – A demonstrated commitment to both partnership and teamwork
  • Self-confidence – Initiative to proactively address Advisor and client situations as they arise

Responsibilities

  • Shadow PWA team member(s) to develop an understanding of the advisory role and responsibilities
  • Work on client-facing projects and analyses
  • Attend client meetings and calls
  • Prepare and present materials for client meetings
  • Perform client portfolio analyses and market research to generate recommendations
  • Analyze performance and generate recommendations
  • Develop client acquisition strategies and processes
  • Leverage prior experience in delivering value to both team and clients
  • Stay abreast of Firm initiatives and become a team expert
  • Adopt a proprietary mindset and collaborate with PWA in learning best practices
