Operate PVD coating furnaces to coat carbide and Cermet inserts. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to enter product weights and desired coating cycle information into computer.
  • Ability to perform test on standards to ensure coating thickness and adhesion are within specifications.
  • Ability to perform batch cleanings at proper intervals.
  • Ability to operate other equipment including parts blaster.
  • Ability to set up and separate product.
  • Commitment to working safely and understanding all safety procedures.
  • Ability to handle deviations in routine according to operating procedures and/or work instructions.
  • Responsibility for following inspection control plan, assuring product is processed according to proper routings, specifications and the quantity and style are correct.
  • Ability to work to meet daily departmental production goals.
  • Must be reliable and dependable.
  • Ability to communicate safety, quality and product issues with supervisor, team members and across shifts.
  • Ability to solve furnace related problems by using learned knowledge and reasoning skills and by consulting supervisors and co-workers.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 year technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload fixtures with product into furnaces, ensuring correct setup and sufficient cleanliness.
  • Enter product weights and desired coating cycle information into the computer.
  • Start and monitor the coating process.
  • Clean fixtures and base plates between heats.
  • Ensure adequate gas supply and replace gas tanks as needed.
  • Verify targets and melts are adequate for the process.
  • Perform tests on standards to ensure coating thickness and adhesion meet specifications.
  • Perform batch cleanings at proper intervals.
  • Operate other equipment, including parts blasters, as needed.
  • Set up and separate product.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and equipment.
  • Commit to working safely and understanding all safety procedures.
  • Handle deviations in routine according to operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Follow the inspection control plan to ensure product is processed according to routings and specifications, verifying quantity and style.
  • Work to meet daily departmental production goals.
  • Be reliable and dependable.
  • Communicate safety, quality, and product issues with supervisors, team members, and across shifts.
