About The Position

Equans is a global leader in the energy and services sector, and its Energies Business Unit (BU) is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas with expertise in electrical engineering for renewable energy projects, specifically solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The candidate will play a key role in the design, engineering, and technical review of utility-scale and commercial renewable energy installations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas is mandatory.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of electrical engineering experience on U.S.-based EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects.
  • Proven ability to develop, review, and approve detailed electrical designs and engineering documentation aligned with regulatory codes and project requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail for precise design and system optimization.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for site visits, meetings, and fieldwork as required.
  • Flexibility to support construction, commissioning, or troubleshooting activities outside typical office hours.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience in the renewables sector, particularly solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS), is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the detailed electrical design and engineering of solar PV and BESS projects, including single-line diagrams, electrical layouts, and equipment specifications.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, fault current analysis, protection coordination, and grounding system design.
  • Develop, review, and approve engineering documentation, drawings, and reports to meet project and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, and systems engineers to integrate electrical systems effectively.
  • Conduct system modeling and simulation for performance analysis and optimization of PV and BESS assets.
  • Support permitting, interconnection studies, and compliance documentation with local and state regulatory bodies.
  • Lead technical evaluations and troubleshooting during construction, commissioning, and operation phases.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best engineering practices and standards.
  • Maintain compliance with industry codes such as NEC, IEEE, UL, and ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, standards, and market trends in solar and battery energy storage sectors.
