Requirements

  • Five years of experience in purchasing
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Supervisory skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others; team player.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Driven and self-managing.
  • Understanding of ERP systems
  • Able to multitask and prioritize tasks.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science or Associate’s degree in business preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day activities of the supply room, bulk storage, and the purchasing function.
  • Contract special building and ground projects issued by the operations or general manager.
  • Manage Supply spend on a daily basis.
  • Maintain records on cost-saving accomplishments.
  • Liquidate surplus parts and scrap materials.
  • Investigate new suppliers/pricing in order to maintain competitive cost.
  • Work with Quality to sample new materials in an attempt to improve quality and or lower costs.
  • Get competitive quotes for all materials.
  • Establish max.-min. inventory levels for all materials.
  • Monthly inventory of raw materials and component parts.
  • Generate purchase orders and monitor open purchase orders.
  • Maintain purchasing and receiving records to support Sox requirements.
  • Expedite past due and critical purchase orders.
  • Purchase monthly requirements of steel scrap and alloys
  • Purchase raw materials for melting, molding, and the core room.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of raw materials to support production.
  • Maintain Inventory system.
  • Request safety data sheets.
  • Monitor material price increases.
  • Maintain raw material rejections.
  • Maintain approved supplier list through periodic surveys.
  • Establish and monitor quarterly goals.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Controller.
