About The Position

The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for processing purchase requisitions, generating purchase orders, and maintaining vendor records. This role involves resolving discrepancies, monitoring deliveries, obtaining quotations, and researching sourcing options to support cost-reduction initiatives. The specialist will also prepare purchasing reports, build supplier relationships, support inventory activities, and participate in continuous improvement efforts. The position is primarily office-based with occasional interaction on the manufacturing floor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and follow-up skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to analyze purchasing and inventory data.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree preferred.
  • Experience in purchasing, logistics, supply chain, customer service, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Knowledge of Toyota Production System (TPS) and Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing principles is a plus.
  • Experience with JDE Edwards or other ERP systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain vendor master records, including supplier setup and updates within JDE.
  • Resolve purchase order discrepancies involving pricing, invoices, receipts, and quantities.
  • Monitor supplier deliveries and expedite orders to meet operational requirements.
  • Obtain supplier quotations and evaluate sourcing options based on quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Research products, services, and alternative sourcing opportunities to support cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Prepare purchasing reports, spend analysis, and procurement-related metrics.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships through ongoing communication and collaboration.
  • Support inventory activities and maintain ISO/IATF documentation requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects.
