About The Position

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Purchasing Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Purchasing/Warehousing and Shipping/Receiving Department, helping the Director lead department personnel while performing related work. Requirements

  • At least 4 - 6 years’ experience in hospitality, procurement, and/or food & beverage management.
  • Experience in Central Stores Management, Inventory Control, Purchasing, Finance basics, shipping/receiving.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in managing and developing staff.
  • Experience with BirchStreet or other ordering/inventory management systems/software.
  • Proven experience in vendor management/vendor relationship with win-win partnership philosophy.
  • Outgoing, people-person, relationship and consensus builder.
  • Team centric, results and performance-based oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates/Bachelor's degree or higher, is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare personnel work schedules to maintain optimum crew size for warehouse and dock.
  • Responsible for determining and maintaining right-sized inventory pars for Central Warehouse.
  • Ensure all requisitions are fulfilled and all internal deliveries are made to outlets/departments on time, in full and accurate.
  • Work with department managers to assess and fulfill their product and service needs while developing good relationships with all internal customers and department heads.
  • Develop and maintain excellent vendor relationships with all resort vendors.
  • Oversee and perform monthly inventory for Central Warehouse and reconcile any variances.
  • Manage and verify materials received are as ordered and route incoming items to appropriate departments/locations.
  • Prepare shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; determine most economical and efficient shipping method; select appropriate shipping containers; pack items to ensure safe delivery.
  • Oversee bills for lading preparation; check items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
  • Oversee receiving and unloading of incoming materials and compare information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; may process return shipments from customers.
  • Sort, count, package, label, insure, unpack, and/or log inventory which is shipped or received.
