About The Position

Executive Millwork is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead their procurement and materials management functions. This is a hands-on role where the individual will be responsible for the entire purchasing process and will eventually help build a small team. The Purchasing Manager will collaborate with Senior Project Managers, Operations, and the shop floor to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive approach, actively seeking cost savings, challenging material takeoffs, and identifying better suppliers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably within the millwork, cabinetry, manufacturing, or construction industries.
  • Demonstrated strong negotiation skills, with the ability to achieve cost savings while maintaining positive supplier relationships.
  • Experience entering purchase orders into an accounting or ERP system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A proactive, organized, and business-minded approach to operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with millwork or cabinetry materials.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as INNERGY, Great Plains, or QuickBooks.
  • Ability to read shop drawings and blueprints, utilizing tools like Bluebeam PDF Viewer.
  • Background in LEAN or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience leading or building a small team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day purchasing activities, including creating purchase orders, following up with suppliers, expediting orders, and coordinating deliveries.
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers for various materials such as sheet goods (MDF, particleboard, laminates), cabinet hardware (hinges, pulls, slides), and shop consumables (glues, adhesives, finishing supplies).
  • Challenge Project Manager takeoffs when material quantities appear incorrect.
  • Participate in project hand-off meetings to understand material requirements for long-lead and high-risk projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, including conducting annual performance reviews.
  • Manage material returns and reconcile inventory against job costing.
  • Track key procurement performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost savings, supplier performance, and lead times.
  • Monitor and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical shifts, pricing trends, and single-source dependencies.
  • Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and improving procurement processes to support team growth.
