About The Position

Magnetics, a division of Spang & Company, has an opening for a Purchasing Manager based in Pittsburgh, PA. This position will lead and execute the end-to-end procurement function for raw materials, supplies, capital equipment, and contract services, ensuring continuity of supply, competitive cost, and supplier performance in support of manufacturing operations. Magnetics is a leading world supplier of precision soft magnetic components and materials to the electronics industry. We specialize in research, design, and production of high-quality powder cores, ferrite cores, and tape wound cores for applications such as chokes, inductors, filters, transformers, and power supply components for use in alternative energy, uninterrupted power supplies, telecommunications, aerospace, military, medical, and other electronics systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, logistics, or a technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Experience with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the end-to-end procurement function for raw materials, supplies, capital equipment, and contract services.
  • Ensure continuity of supply, competitive cost, and supplier performance in support of manufacturing operations.
  • Partner with Operations to align purchasing activities with forecast demand and inventory targets.
  • Drive cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Perform end-to-end sourcing activities, including RFQs, cost and MOQ negotiations, purchase order issuance, proactive expediting, and resolution of past-due deliveries.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships as the primary point of contact.
  • Ensure a capable supplier base for current and future business needs.
  • Partner with internal customers to define requirements and develop scopes of work for contracted services while coordinating with contractors for timely execution.
  • Lead cost-reduction initiatives through negotiations and dual/alternate sourcing strategies and safety stock.
  • Ensure compliance with sustainable sourcing standards (including Conflict Minerals regulations and DFARs requirements).
  • Resolve receiving and invoicing discrepancies.
  • Manage supplier RMA processes.
