This job is primarily responsible for oversight of inventory control management (purchasing, tracking, and storage) of both low value consumable supplies and high value mechanical and electrical parts and components and management of vendor/supplier relationships. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, communication with customers, managers, and contractors to help efficiently coordinate activities and analyze changes in materials and supplies to ensure proper inventory supply levels. Additionally, this role will directly manage staff. In this job, you will: Develop and implement purchasing policies and procedures; and approved vendor/supplier list. Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies. Develop, establish, implement, and enforce vendor/supplier guidelines, obligations, and service levels agreements to the organization by developing and managing vendor/supplier relationships. Monitor and analyze trends in vendor/supplier spend and material availability to make recommendations for future spend, and to identify areas for possible savings and needs. Develop cost reduction strategies and savings plans. Accountable for ensuring appropriate parts, components, and supplies as needed for location(s) to provide services and products to meet customer needs and standards. Supervise physical inventory counts, including ensuring accurate documentation of inventory storage/location. Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, parts, products and/or substitute materials. May delegate and direct work with contractors assisting in projects to ensure proper equipment, parts, and supplies are on hand. Supervise employees in the purchasing and inventory control department; includes overseeing staffing and job development activities (hiring, training, employment performance management, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, etc.); develop communicate, and manage individual staff performance expectations that align with company goals. Work with Accounting Department to manage purchasing department budgets. Administer online purchasing systems, maintain records of goods ordered and received. Arrange for disposal of surplus materials. Other duties as assigned.
