About The Position

The Purchasing Manager leads the team responsible for timely and accurate generation of contract purchase orders for end-to-end construction production. The role identifies, recommends, and implements process improvements to support timely delivery of materials, trades, and services across construction sites in accordance with schedules and budgets. The manager also oversees and develops the purchasing team and collaborates with internal teams and trade partners to support purchasing operations.

Requirements

• Post-secondary bachelor's degree or college diploma in Architecture, Supply Chain, or a relevant field of study.
• Excellent knowledge of construction, procurement, and estimating processes and procedures.
• Knowledge of core Newstar purchasing functions and their subsidiary impacts across the ERP framework.
• Strong Microsoft Office Excel skills.
• Experience using BuildPro or OLS.

Responsibilities

• Monitor construction releases in conjunction with interior design appointments to ensure timely release of purchase orders to the field.
• Identify and recommend opportunities to improve processes, systems, procedures, and policies within the purchasing team.
• Collaborate with the Manager, Business Process, and Décor to develop, research, create, and maintain the Product Library and set up new Décor offerings.
• Review scopes of work, architectural plans, and pricing to confirm accurate issuance of purchase orders through Newstar.
• Liaise with trade partners, Construction, Marketing, Customer Service, and Décor to ensure trade partners have the information needed to fulfill contractual obligations.
• Communicate proactively and regularly with Superintendents and Managers about upcoming purchasing needs.
• Work with the team, Accounts Payable, and vendors to resolve escalated invoice discrepancies.
• Hire, develop, evaluate, and motivate the purchasing team.
