About The Position

MARSHALLTOWN, a market leader in construction tools, is seeking a Purchasing Manager for its Fayetteville, Arkansas facility. This full-time, on-site position reports to the Vice President of Supply Chain and Operational Excellence. The role involves strategic planning, assessing future supply and transportation logistics, and ensuring product availability. The Purchasing Manager will operate at the intersection of operations and leadership, collaborating cross-functionally with departments such as Engineering, Operations, Sales, Sourcing, Product Development, and Maintenance. The position requires leveraging the scale of the procurement system and utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills to drive operational excellence. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 4+ years' experience in business management, merchandising, or related area.
  • Proficient understanding of MRP Materials Resource Planning operating principles.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively negotiate and communicate with suppliers, vendors, and logistics partners.
  • Effective organizational & project management skills through proven experience.
  • Ability to manage, analyze, and make decisions using large volumes of data.
  • Excellent PC skills utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Team orientation with ability to be self-directed.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong preference for a candidate with an engineering degree.
  • Previous experience leading supply chain teams strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the import or export process of containers, LCL, or bulk material, as well as documentation requirements associated with import and export of goods. Direct experience, strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Procurement/Replenishment & Logistics arms of the Supply Chain team.
  • Strategic planning, assessing future supply and transportation logistics.
  • Ensuring the right amount of product is available at the right place and the right time.
  • Operate daily at the intersection of operations and leadership.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal partners like Engineering, Operations, Sales, Sourcing, Product Development, and Maintenance.
  • Leverage the scale of our procurement system.
  • Use critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to drive operational excellence.
  • Effectively negotiate and communicate with suppliers, vendors, and logistics partners.
