About The Position

The Purchasing Manager – Tactical Procurement Lead is responsible for leading all tactical procurement activities supporting the Houston Assembly Value Stream. This role ensures the timely acquisition of materials, components, and services required to meet production schedules, customer commitments, and operational objectives while maintaining cost, quality, and delivery performance standards. The Purchasing Manager provides leadership to the tactical procurement team and serves as a key link between Operations, Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Management, Strategic Procurement and suppliers. The position is accountable for managing supplier performance, mitigating supply chain risks, resolving material shortages, negotiating commercial terms, and driving procurement execution to support uninterrupted production. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in tactical procurement, supply chain management, materials planning, and supplier relationship management within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This individual must demonstrate exceptional leadership, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to drive accountability, improve supplier performance, and deliver results in support of business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Materials Management, or related field.
  • Purchasing experience in an ERP/MRP environment; Deltek Costpoint preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to drive change.
  • Experience implementing Lean principles and process improvements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in data center manufacturing, construction, or operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Procure raw materials, components, and services to support production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Manage material supply levels based on demand, forecasts, inventory, and lead times.
  • Create, issue, and manage purchase orders with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Program Management, Materials, Quality, Finance, and other stakeholders to support business objectives.
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Expedite critical orders and proactively resolve supply chain disruptions.
  • Manage supplier delivery, quality, and shortage issues to minimize operational impact.
  • Support emergency and after-hours procurement activities as required.
