About The Position

This role is responsible for leading all procurement activities supporting manufacturing operations, including sourcing of production materials, services, and indirect supplies. The Purchasing Manager will develop and manage the supplier network, support cross-functional business needs, and ensure continuity of supply while meeting cost, quality, and delivery expectations. This position also plays a key role in advancing purchasing systems and processes, proactively identifying supply chain risks and impacts, and ensuring adherence to established controls, compliance requirements, and standard work practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field
  • 5–8 years of progressive purchasing experience in automotive or industrial manufacturing
  • Minimum 3 years in a supervisory/leadership role
  • Strong background in supplier negotiation, contract management, and cost analysis

  • CPM and/or CPSM certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead all sourcing and procurement activities supporting plant operations
  • Develop, manage, and strengthen relationships with domestic and global suppliers
  • Ensure supply continuity by proactively addressing delivery, quality, and capacity risks
  • Identify and implement cost reduction, value optimization, and process improvement opportunities
  • Drive alignment between purchasing activities and production and customer requirements
  • Oversee supplier performance management, including corrective actions when required
  • Lead RFQ/RFP processes, including sourcing strategies, bid packages, and commercial evaluations
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and long-term supply agreements
  • Manage supplier selection, qualification, audits, and performance reviews
  • Monitor market trends and supply base conditions to anticipate risk and mitigation actions
  • Reconcile purchasing discrepancies (invoice, PO, contractual variances)
  • Support capital and production purchasing in collaboration with Finance and Operations
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and quality system requirements
  • Support audit readiness and document control activities related to purchasing systems
  • Drive supplier innovation and material/process improvements
  • Support special projects as assigned
  • Practice and maintain integrity while following Magna’s Charter and Constitution.

  • Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (IATF 16949).
  • Drive the development of new technologies to improve quality, efficiency and reduce cost.
