About The Position

Purchasing Manager is responsible for setting directions and executing day-to-day operations associated with materials management and logistics. This position reports to the VP of Manufacturing and includes managing and developing a team of employees. You will establish inventory requirements, negotiate vendor contracts, research & provide buying options, and be responsible for maintaining inventory levels at required levels. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Accounting, or another relevant field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in management with oversight of materials and logistics, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Establish inventory requirements based on a combination of factors including vendor lead time, manufacturing operating tempo and new product introductions.
Partner with Scheduling, Manufacturing and Engineering departments when developing material and inventory management plans.
Manage vendor relationships and monitor performance of current vendors (cost, quality, delivery), as well as source new vendors to obtain the best value and minimize supply chain risks.
Review and approve purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
Apply best practices to inventory management to minimize inventory shrink and order fulfillment errors.
Ensure the reliability of applicable inventory and PO data in the ERP system, including management of the cycle counting and annual, physical inventory process.
Manage the processes associated with packaging and shipping finished products to customers which include negotiating and coordinating with freight carriers and warehousing firms.
Track and report key functional metrics to measure the overall effectiveness of the material management and logistics function.
Manage the Purchasing, Receiving, Warehouse, and Shipping teams.
Apply a continuous improvement approach in all aspects of the teams’ responsibilities.
