About The Position

The Purchasing Coordinator provides administrative support for the team of commodity purchasers. The primary focus of this role is to streamline the function of the commodity buyers, while enabling a high level of communication with the yards, vendors, and salespeople. The optimal Purchasing Coordinator is someone with above-average organizational skills, is detail oriented, highly accurate, and able to complete tasks accurately with minimal supervision. This role is vital to fulfilling our mission of Legendary Service Through Teamwork because a highly effective purchasing department is critical to the company being able to deliver on our customer service promises – as well as being critical to the profitability of PARR. The Purchasing Coordinator reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and works closely with the Operational Teams. This person interacts daily with vendors, sales, and yard personnel.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of lumber, panels, and related products
  • Knowledge of doors and millwork production required
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must be able to operate personal computer, telephone, scanner, and any other equipment necessary for the job
  • Ability to speak, write, and read English required
  • One to two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of experience and/or training

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience working with perpetual inventory systems preferred
  • Working knowledge of Biztrack software preferred

Responsibilities

  • Match the purchase orders with quantities, destination, and pricing on vendor confirmation
  • Ensure that shipping schedules are met for commodity purchases
  • Track and follow up on late shipments
  • Communicate with the field about late shipments
  • Assist in price updates and corrections in Biztrack
  • Assist with the transition to Biztrack as a department resource
  • Proactively communicate with suppliers about product and supply issues with the goal of making the system work better
  • Be the department point person working with yards on their inventory discrepancies
  • Assist Buyers in documenting and following up on product claims
  • Standardize, organize, and maintain the department filing systems
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
