About The Position

This position is accountable for Quality Control, purchase orders, receiving, invoices, auditing and maintaining data base cost of incoming and outgoing materials and supplies. Typically, this individual will work closely with the Purchasing Agent, Area Manager of Equipment, Project Control Administrator, Superintendents, Dredge Captains and Foremen. The incumbent must support the guiding beliefs and core values of Orion, which are centered on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork most importantly, with each built upon the all-important foundation of Integrity.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent with 5 years of experience in the related area.
  • Performing Office Administration functions, or equivalent Office Administration training and experience is required.
  • The incumbent must have computer proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint and be able to word process at least 60 WPM.
  • The position also requires good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively relate to employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Discretion and trustworthiness, and the ability to keep all Company information and materials strictly confidential (both internally and externally) are essential elements of this position.
  • Must be well organized, diligent, and be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision and to independently identify work to be done.
  • Must be flexible and have the ability to adjust to sudden changes in work priorities.
  • The incumbent must also have the ability to prioritize work generally and in order to accommodate those changes.
  • Attention to detail and extreme care in performing tasks accurately and carefully are also essential.

  • The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment if required to work or visit the jobsite.
  • This may include hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, personal flotation devices, or other equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
  • In addition, lifting and carrying objects up to 10 lbs. may be required on occasions.
  • Be qualified and physically able to drive regular passenger vehicles to visit work locations and job sites.
  • Incumbent must be able respond appropriately during site emergencies as directed by the Site Emergency Director or other management personnel.
  • The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstances of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel.
  • Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in a marine construction capacity.
  • In addition, incumbents must have knowledge of field concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • The incumbent must be computer proficient with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and audits purchase orders to be filled daily requested by Project Management and Supervision for all ongoing projects related to materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies.
  • Processes Quality Control for all Project Managers and Field Managers.
  • Processes all correspondences related to purchases including invoicing.
  • Performs job checks on all issued tasks that may be assigned to the warehouse.
  • Communicates daily work instructions to warehouse worker and tool room attendants.
  • Completes logs of all incoming shipments into database.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and compliance with all company inventory, shipping and receiving.
  • Records materials, supplies, parts, and tools in and out of the warehouse.
  • Performs customer service with vendors and clients regarding purchases.
  • Complies with all Orion Marine Group Safety / Operational Policies and government regulatory guidelines.
  • Promotes a safe, efficient, and organized work environment for employees.
  • Maintains and adheres to record retention and process requirement of the warehouse and purchases made.
  • Accomplishes organization mission by completing related results and other duties as assigned.
  • Works closely with all Managers and skilled and semi-skilled crafts persons to complete current projects in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
  • Responsible and accountable for incumbent’s own personal safety.
  • Responsible and accountable for the safety of all co-workers and any others incumbent comes in contact with.
  • Authorized and obligated to stop work on any task or series of tasks whenever an unsafe condition or situation is anticipated or is observed.
  • Complies with all applicable laws, regulations and Company policies and procedures, and is subject to appropriate disciplinary action (including dismissal) for failure to do so.
  • Reports any and all violations of applicable laws, regulations or Company policies and procedures promptly, and is subject to appropriate disciplinary action (including dismissal) for failure to do so.
  • Performs other related administrative and technical duties as may be assigned or requested by immediate supervision (such as certification training, safety training, procedure review, etc.).
